Each state has different regulations regarding vehicle titles. Please find your state on the list below to determine if you will need a title for your vehicle to donate it. We accept any kind of vehicle, including cars, trucks, trailers, boats, RVs, snowmobiles, jet-skis, motorcycles and more.

How are donated vehicles sold?

Every vehicle donated to help save lives will be sold at auction by Insurance Auto Auctions, Inc. (IAA). That's the business they're in, and auctioning is a beneficial, efficient and cost-effective way to turn a car donation into dollars for charity.

What is my vehicle worth?

It depends. Every vehicle and every auction is different, but your donated vehicle will receive exposure to the greatest number of potential buyers all around the world, which helps maximize its sale price.

Is my donation tax deductible?

Almost certainly, but check with your tax advisor to be sure about the regulations in your state.

Matching Donors is recognized by the IRS as a not-for-profit 501(c)(3) charitable organization, so most donations are tax-deductible to the full extent of the law. See IRS.gov for additional information.

What can I claim as a deduction?

You can deduct the value of your vehicle only if you itemize deductions when filing your taxes. Under the current IRS law, you may only deduct the ACTUAL sale price of your vehicle. If your vehicle sells for less than $500, you can claim the fair market value up to $499.

When will I receive my tax receipt?

Vehicles typically sell within 4-6 weeks from the time they are picked up. Your receipt will be generated as soon as your vehicle sells and will be mailed to you within 30 days.

How will the value of my vehicle be determined for tax purposes?

As of January 1, 2005 the IRS has taken the guesswork out of determining the value of your vehicle for tax purposes. If your vehicle sells for less than $500, you can claim the fair market value of your vehicle up to $499. If your vehicle sells for more than $500, you can deduct the actual sale price. We will provide you with a receipt by mail after your vehicle is sold to file with your tax deductions.

Why are you asking for my social security number?

If your vehicle sells for more than $500, we will call you and ask for your social security number. By law, the IRS requires us to provide a social security number to verify deductions greater than $500.

Protecting your information is important to us. We use all reasonable efforts to safeguard the confidentiality of your information.

What happens if I do not provide my social security number?

That's okay. You can claim up to $499 without a social security number.
